Welcome to my website! Here I show my artwork, share the reasons why I am an aspiring artist and uncover the creative process that brings forth my art. I write in English as a courtesy to my friends and family living in foreign countries. If you struggle with English, please use google translate, just as I do.

My art mirrors what I think is really interesting: people. To be more specific; peoples´s faces. The soul of a person is manifest in the face. A face is an intricate landscape. Exploring it and capturing on paper or canvas both the topography and the elusive glimpse of the soul is a grand thing. My favorite mediums are oil, soft pastels, colored pencils, charcoal, pencil and textile. Words, music, photography and imagination are also important ingredients in my art.

The importance of any drawing is not how faithfully it copies nature, or another person´s conception of nature, but rather the personal statement of it.
— Anton Refregier, 1947

EDUCATION

From a young age I´ve been dabbling in art, being happy and clueless in my modest endeavors. One day, not long ago, I got an epiphany: you need to learn how to draw! The Italian artist and writer Cennino Cennini (about 1370–about 1440) gave the following advice:

The foundation of the art and the beginning of all these labours of the hand is drawing and coloring.
— The book of the art by Cennino Cennini
Now then, you of noble mind, who love this profession, come at once to art and accept these precepts: enthusiasm (love), reverence, obedience, and perseverance. As soon as you can, place yourself under the guidance of a master, and remain with him as long as possible.
— The book of the art by Cennino Cennini

In 2013 I started my studies at Farigh Ghaderi Art Studio in Stockholm. Farigh is a master teacher and after being under his guidance for four years I´ve learned the basics (and much more) in becoming a skilled artist. Please click here to see how my artwork has evolved and progressed since I started my apprenticeship at the art studio.
